GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), the operating company of Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, has been adjudged the winner of “ASSOCHAM CSR Excellence Award 2013-14”, in recognition of the ‘outstanding Corporate Social Responsible’ activities undertaken by the company. The selection Jury is chaired by Justice VN Khare, former Chief Justice of India.
To promote CSR activities among the industry and the corporate world, ASSOCHAM institutionalised the CSR EXCELLENCE AWARDS in 2008. For the year 2013-14, ASSOCHAM has chosen to base its review and evaluation of a company’s commitment to CSR on the National Voluntary Guidelines for the Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business 2011. These guidelines, developed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in consultation with numerous stakeholders, broadly lay down the basic requirements for businesses to function responsibly and successfully to achieve its triple bottom line objectives. The Award puts a greater emphasis on corporate sustainability and inclusive growth, two cornerstones of GHIAL’s CSR mission that has been enhancing its footprint consistently and broadening the service base.
Speaking on the occasion Mr SGK Kishore, CEO-GHIAL expressed happiness over the recognition. “The award is indeed an honour and reflects our best of efforts and spirit in giving back to the society. As a responsible corporate citizen, GHIAL has been displaying a committed endeavour and a concerted approach in taking CSR activities to the threshold of the target communities. With the spirit of social responsibility imbibed in Group’s Values and Beliefs, the award reaffirms our mission to become a sustainable and responsible organisation,” he said.
