Cyrus Poonawalla bids for #London’s Grosvenor House Hotel from Sahara
Dr.Cyrus Poonawalla founder of the world's biggest vaccine maker Serum Institute of India has put in a $937 million bid for London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The 494-room property located in the Mayfair area and managed by J.W.Marriott and owned by the beleaguered Sahara India Group. Sahara is under pressure from Indian regulators SEBI and the country's Supreme Court to raise funds to pay billions of dollars to bondholders.
The Poonawalla family also owns and breeds horses at their farm located near Pune, collects cars, and has a stake in a luxury spa near London.
