Two high-speed train projects intended to link Thailand and southern China, have been approved by Thai authorities. One is to be a 737 Km line from northeastern Nong Khai [nong kai] province to Map Ta Phut in eastern Rayong province, and the other a 655 Km line from Chiang Khong in northern Chiang Rai province to Ban Phachi in central Ayutthaya province.
