#Hero Indian Super League (ISL) kicks off with a bang

With lot of fanfare Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL), the first of its kind glamorous football league in India was launched yesterday in Mumbai. IMG-Reliance and Star India are the promoters of this Super League. The league's logo was also unveiled yesterday. Nita Ambani, founding chairperson of Football Sports Development (FSD) which owns ISL, thanked team owners for their support.


Sachin Tendulkar (Kerala Blaster FC), Ranbir Kapoor (Team Mumbai), Abhishek Bachchan (Team Chennai), Samir Manchanda (Delhi Dynamos), John Abrahim (NorthEast United), Kapil Wadhawan (FC Pune City), Varun Dhawan (FC Goa) and Utsav Parekh (Atletico de Kolkata) along with Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India and Praful Patel, President AIFF and Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founding Chairperson, Football Sports Development were present at the launch of the Indian Super League.. Hero ISL will happen from Oct 12 to Dec 20 in eight Indian cities.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, co-owner of Athletico de Kolkata, and Bollywood star Salman Khan, who is co-promoter of the Pune franchise could not attend the inaugural function due to their personal commitments.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Nita Ambani said, "ISL hope to act as a foundation in creating an eco-system to nurture talent and make our own national football heroes, through its ambitious grassroots development program."
