According to information obtained under Right to Information Act by Activist-lawyer Aires Rodrigues Goa State Advocate General (AG) Atmaram Nadkarni gets Rs.8 lakh as monthly remuneration and Rs.10,000 per case per day as appearance fee for appearing before the High Court and Rs.75,000 per case per day as appearance fee for appearing before the Supreme Court.
Atmaram Nadkarni is not only India's highest paid AG and but also the country's highest paid public servant.
The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has sought an explanation and justification on this issue of very high fees being paid to Goa AG.
