Haryana State DGP S N Vashisht said on the incident that "It is unfortunate. Media is fourth pillar of our democracy, but I don't know the exact details about the circumstances which led to the attack and injuries to many media personnel".

The standoff took a violent turn as the Haryana government raced against time to get hold of Rampal to meet the deadline of Friday set by Punjab and Haryana high court for producing him in the contempt case.
