Over Rs 2,263 crore spent by India in 3 yrs for maintenance of #Sukhoi aircraft

India has spent over Rs 2,263 crore for the repair and maintenance of Russian made Su-30 aircraft of the Indian Air Force since 2011, the government told Rajya Sabha.The details of amount spent on the repair and maintenance task of the Sukhoi aircraft during the last three years is as under:

                        2011-12                       Rs. 551.35 crore

                        2012-13                       Rs. 877.84 crore

                        2013-14                       Rs. 834.76 crore



This information was given by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Shri Ishwarlal Shankarlal Jain in Rajya Sabha yesterday.Russian President Vladimir Putin to arrive in India today and this issue may be highlighted by the Indian side during the bilateral discussions.
Su-30 aircraft of the Indian Air Force had recently met with an accident near Sheyur village located near Pune. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of accident and loss to service property. The maintenance work on SU-30 aircraft is carried out in accordance with procedures specified in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Maintenance Manuals and Servicing Schedules for the aircraft.
