State govt of Karnataka has put off the Invest Karnataka meet scheduled to be held from November 23 to 25, due to the current agrarian crisis in the State. The event will now be held from February 3 to 5 in 2016.
Announcing this at a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Industries Minister R.V. Deshpande said the government had decided that it was not proper to hold an international event when the State was going through a tough time. "The fact that 136 of the total 176 taluks in the State are gripped by drought reflects the seriousness of the situation," he observed.
