India to buy three more #Scorpene submarines

India is now finalizing plans to order three more French Scorpene submarines after the first six are constructed at Mazagon Dock.At present, six Scorpene submarines are being built at the state-owned Mazagon Docks in collaboration with DCNS of France. The six new submarines for the P-75I project is the next phase of the same submarine project and will be worth over $ 11.10 billion.


China has 51 conventional and five nuclear submarines.Islamabad has recently ordered eight more advanced diesel-electric submarines from Beijing.Collaboration between Pakistan and China is worrysome for India.INS Arihant India's first nuclear-powered submarine armed with nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles.Indian Navy officials say only half of the submarines are functional as the rest remain grounded on account of maintenance and upgrades.
