Activist advocate Prashant Bhushan who is the convener of the Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR) wants a separate independent commission for appointment of High court and Supreme court judges.The collegian system for appointment of judges has failed to deliver justice to the common men and women of this country.
He opined that these should be a proper evaluation of the judges and orders passed by them. Often it has been found the order passed by a lower court court judge turned down by the higher court. Judges who pass questionable orders should be penalised. There is need for periodical evaluation of their performance.The impeachment procedure to remove a judge needs to be simplified.There needs curve on power vested on judges on the contempt of court proceedings, he added.
When asked about the reservation in higher judiciary advocate Bhushan said that higher judiciary should be kept out of the perviw reservation.
