Auto driver hangs self, blames daughter-in-law in suicide note

50-year-old auto driver Babu Sheikh from Thane district of Maharashtra allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on 22nd Dec. last year.He filmed the act on his mobile phone after leaving a suicide note recorded in his own voice.He blamed his daughter-in-law in the message, saying that she had made false allegations that he was sexually harassing her.


Sheikh lived with his family at Bhaskar Nagar in Thane's Ambernath Township. His elder son got married last month and there used to be frequent arguments between the family and the daughter-in-law.

Babu's younger son Abdul said, "My brother tried to convince his wife saying she had misunderstood but she continued harassing him, due to which he was upset and ended his life."

Ambernath police initially recorded an accidental death report, but later they booked the daughter-in-law, her father and brother under IPC section 306 (abatement to suicide). All three accused are on the run till the filing of this news report.
