Work begins on building Rs.27,000 cr #semiconductor plant in #Assam by #Tata Group

Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (“TSAT”) will set up a semiconductor unit in Morigaon, Assam. This unit will be set up with an investment of Rs.27,000 crore.
The first chip is expected to be rolled out by 2025.

Assam Government and Tata Group signed a 60-year lease for 170 acres in Morigaon for a Rs. 27,000 crore semiconductor unit. The Bhumi Pujan (ground breaking ceremony) to take place at 1 PM today and arrangements have been made for 5000 people to attend.
The plant is going to be a mega job generator, already 1,500 youths from Assam, mostly women are being trained in Tata facilities in and around Bengaluru.
The semiconductor plant in Assam will give a big boost to India's plans to grab a bigger share of the global semiconductor market, become a dominant player in the sector and be in the big league with the likes of global leaders such as the US, China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
The global semiconductor market size was valued at USD 544.78 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach around USD 1,137.57 billion by 2033, poised to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.64% during the forecast period 2024 to 2033, as per Precedence Research, a company that provides strategic mar insights and is based out of Canada India.
The semiconductor plant in Assam wil give a big boost to India's plans to get bigger share of the global semiconductor market.
