In its endeavor to building a healthier society, Fortis Hospital Seshadripuram today announced the launch of Community Arogya Program (CAP) at the hospital. His Excellency Rameshwar Thakur, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, today formally inaugurated the hospital and launched the Community Arogya Programme.

Mrs. Parvathamma Rajkumar, Kannada film producer and renowned social worker, Mr Bhavdeep Singh, CEO-Fortis Healthcare and Mr Jasbir Grewal, Vice President Operations were also present on the occasion.

The week long CAP, starting May 13, 2009, aims to sensitize the people of Bangalore about the importance of early detection, prevention and awareness about various health diseases. Under the aegis of CAP, Fortis will organize a series of community health education programmes, health camps across various specialties, knowledge-sharing programmes for medical fraternity.

The hospital also launched the ‘Fortis Golden Age Club’ to provide affordable healthcare services to senior citizens of Bangalore . His Excellency Rameshwar Thakur presented the first Fortis Golden Age Club membership to Mrs Parvathamma Rajkumar. Golden Age Club entitles its members to discounts in treatment and free ambulance service at the hospital.

Mr Bhavdeep Singh, CEO of Fortis Healthcare Limited, said, “We are confident that this initiative launched by Fortis will make people aware of their healthcare needs and sensitize them towards early detection and prevention of diseases. We would like to encourage more and more aged couples to come forward to join our Golden Age Club and avail the benefits as they are the ones who need healthcare facilities the most. This is also our way of expressing our gratitude and appreciation to the elderly.”

His Excellency Rameshwar Thakur, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, speaking on the occasion said, “Due to sedentary and stressful lifestyle, some of the most dreaded diseases have become very common specifically amongst the young and aged population of India . Maintaining good health of the elderly still remains a challenge. Despite the best efforts being made, it is unfeasible for State and Central governments alone to address these issues. We welcome community awareness programs such as these by private hospitals and hope Fortis Hospital Seshadripuram will continue to organize many such programmes in future.”

As a part of the CAP, a comprehensive health check-up camp would be held until May 21 (excluding Sunday) between 8.00 am- 5.00 pm. The health package will include TMT, ultra sound (whole abdomen), ECG, chest X ray, HB blood sugar, cholestrol, urine routine blood grouping and doctor consultation.
