The Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka is organizing the Second Edition of National Level Conference “BANGALORE CYBER SECURITY SUMMIT 2011” on 17th & 18th March 2011 at NIMHANS Convention Centre, Hosur Road, Bangalore, bringing together members from the Prosecution, Industry and other stake holders under one platform to address the challenges facing the nation. With Cyber-attacks increasing at a dramatic rate, protecting networks is one of the most critical national security challenges faced by Governments today. Attempts to break into networks are persistent and are constantly changing, while the consequences of attacks threaten the welfare of Governments, Economy and Citizens. Government of Karnataka is actively taking all necessary steps to handle the threats of cyber security by initiating and setting up these kinds of platforms for all experts from various domains to come together and identify the means for reducing the risks of cyber attacks. One such Initiative is “Bangalore Cyber Security Summit”.
The curtain riser press meet was addressed by Sri. M N Vidyashankar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT & ST, Government of Karnataka, Mr. Hari Kumar Jha, IFS, Managing Director, KEONICS and Mr. Na Vijayashankar, Director, Cyber Law College.
This year, Bangalore Cyber Security Summit is intended to focus attention on the issue of Cyber Security and extend the deliberations of the previous edition regarding the threat of Cyber Wars and the challenges of integrating Law, Technology and Human Factors involved in Cyber Security.
The summit will bring together the professionals from Industry, Officials of State Governments, Police Departments of different States as well as Government of India. The academia would also be participating from which the students’ community would benefit.
Eminent speakers and panelists who are undisputed experts from the Industry, Government, Academia, Cyber Law professions would speak on topics such as “Cyber warfare and Cyber Espionage – Threat to national security”, “Role of IT Secretaries as Adjudicators”, “Intelligent Security for Advanced Persistent threats”, “Cyber Forensics & trends” , “A SWOT Analysis of ITA 2008” etc.
There are 22 speaker sessions and 2 Panel Discussions comprising of 34 Speakers/Panelists, 17 of whom have come from places such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad.
The event would be inaugurated by Shri B S Yeddyurappa, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka on 17th March,2011 at 10.30 am at NIMHANS Convention Centre, Hosur Road, Bangalore.
There is no registration fee for participation in the Conference. Delegates are registered through invitation sent to the Industry, State Governments, Cyber Cafes, Judiciary and Cyber Law Practitioners.
The Think Tank comprising
1.Mr. Na Vijayshankar, Director, Cyber Law College;
2.Mr.Pratap Reddy, Advisor, NASSCOM; and
3.Mr.T S Kishan, CEO, Mandamus
would be submitting recommendations for consideration by the Government during the valedictory function scheduled on 18th March,2011 at 5.00pm in NIMHANS Convention Centre, Hosur Road,Bangalore. The recommendations of the Think Tank would be taken up with the Govt of India.
