National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is organizing the third edition of the NASSCOM Game Developer Conference (NGDC) on the 11th and 12th of November in Pune with the theme ‘Share Socialize Showcase’. The NGDC will witness some of the best brains from the gaming fraternity congregate to share knowledge, network and showcase their studios. The inaugural keynote will be delivered by Mark Skaggs, Senior Vice President, Zynga, the creator of Farmville and Cityville. The conference is aimed at strengthening the brand equity of India for its gaming capabilities, accelerate the process of learning within and maturing of the Indian game development industry and will discuss case studies, current and future trends relevant to India.
In an effort to encourage budding entrepreneurs, game designers, enthusiasts, aspirants, programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers, NASSCOM will also organize various competitions like the Game Super Pitch, the Game Designer Challenge, and the Games Mela, at the GDC. These contests will help enable the creation of a trained and skilled talent pool in India and encourage and facilitate members to uphold world class quality standards and enhance operational excellence.
As part of its initiatives to promote the growth of the gaming Industry in India, NASSCOM, in association with International Game Developers Association (IGDA), will release a whitepaper, during the conference, on casual gaming sector in India. The whitepaper will throw light on the growth and revenue prospects of casual gaming sector in India.
The whitepaper will outline the factors and trends that will drive the casual gaming market in India. The whitepaper will also discuss the major challenges that the industry will face in the times to come and will throw light on the way forward for the industry, identifying the important pillars on which the industry will base its growth.
The Indian animation and gaming industry is today at an inflection point – with increasing demand for outsourcing services supplemented by a fast growing domestic market. The gaming industry is a significant user of technology, and can showcase India’s well established credentials in the technology and services offshoring space, in addition to playing a seminal role in developing India’s domestic media and entertainment industry.
