With patent-pending analog design technology, Titan provides an innovative FlexCell-to-GDSII™ analog/mixed-signal (AMS) flow that organically integrates both electrical design and physical design into one unified design methodology. This paradigm-shifting, electrical-physical co-design flow ranges from front-end design such as schematics to circuit optimization in Titan Analog Design Accelerator (Titan ADX) to back-end design such as placement and routing in Titan Analog Virtual Prototyper (Titan AVP) and Titan Shape-Based Router (Titan SBR). Leveraging tight integration through a unified database and enhanced algorithms Titan further accelerates AMS design and reuse, setting a new standard in design automation for productivity, portability and quality.

This new Titan release supports Magma’s Silicon One initiative by providing faster design convergence, larger capacity and highly automated design flows that address the increasing size, complexity, and shortened development cycles, of today’s AMS designs. Key enhancements include updates to foundry partner AMS reference flows, more efficient legacy data format support through native OpenAccess (OA) support, embedding Magma’s super-fast FineSim™ SPICE circuit simulation for faster and more efficient process modeling, the addition of several new advanced FlexCells that serve as process-independent analog building blocks, support of higher frequency transistor characteristics for RF design, increased capacity to simultaneously handle hundreds of multi-corner scenarios, parallel optimization through distributed implementation for faster runtime and better quality of results (QoR), and tight integration with Magma’s digital implementation tool Talus® for more efficient top-level routing and chip finishing. Titan’s enhanced co-design flow has proven its value for early adopters who have experienced 2X improvement in design productivity while achieving better results.

“As evidenced by initial successes by and Panasonic, iWatt and Exar as well as recent achievements by Fujitsu and other users, Titan is experiencing very rapid adoption for a wide variety of analog designs being manufactured in process nodes ranging from 180 to 28 nanometer and below,” said Anirudh Devgan, general manager of Magma’s Custom Design Business Unit. “More than half of the top 20 semiconductor companies in the world are Titan customers and several more are actively evaluating this technology. This growth is a direct result of Titan’s advanced analog circuit design capabilities, such as non-linear constraint-based circuit optimization and high capacity and high quality analog routing that allow Titan to offer significant quality and turnaround-time advantages over traditional analog design and implementation tools. Backed by Magma’s talented engineering, R&D and worldwide FAE teams, new customers can be confident in adopting this innovative solution.”

Titan AMS Design Platform: Improving Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Productivity and Enabling Reuse

At the heart of the Titan AMS Design Platform is an advanced analog design acceleration technology that consists of Magma’s proprietary FlexCell-based circuit optimization, analog virtual prototyping, floorplanning and placement and constraint-driven shape-based routing. Complementary to this acceleration technology, Titan also provides a comprehensive AMS design environment that includes the Schematic Editor (SE), Analog Simulation Environment (ASE) with FineSim, Schematic-Driven Layout (SDL), Layout Editor (LE) and Physical Validation (PV).

· Titan ADX and FlexCells - Magma’s Titan ADX and FlexCell models greatly improve productivity, accelerating the creation of new analog IP and simplifying analog IP reuse. A FlexCell represents a circuit in a mathematical, parameterized model format that includes circuit topology, functionality and physical information such as resistance and capacitance. Because they are process independent, modular and reusable, FlexCells can be easily targeted to new process technologies and optimized for different design specifications. After optimization, Titan ADX outputs a schematic with a netlist that meets the design specifications across multiple process, voltage and temperature (PVT) corners. FlexCell models include testbenches, allowing further validation of the netlist using Magma’s FineSim SPICE simulator.

· Titan AVP and Titan SBR - Magma’s Titan AVP and Titan SBR take the Titan ADX optimized design (netlist) and automatically place and route it to meet design specifications and constraints. Titan AVP takes hybrid placement in area/row/stack-based requirements into consideration and supports a wide variety of constraints for pins, devices, cells and blocks to achieve optimal global placement results. Titan SBR is architecture-friendly, easily extending support for any new routing topology and constraints. Its trademark high-quality routing includes detailed RC matching, river route, differential pair with 45 degree twisted tri-bit routing, bus routing with shielding, double cut via for high reliability, and balanced-skew clock tree routing. Titan SBR is also widely used with Magma’s digital implementation tool Talus for top-level routing and chip finishing.

Magma's Tekton Achieves Adoption Milestone with More than 25 Companies Now Using the Advanced Static Timing Analysis Solution to Accelerate Timing Sign-off

Bangalore, November 30, 2011: Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced that since its release 18 months ago, Tekton has grown its customer base to more than 25 companies, achieving the fastest adoption rate of any tool in the company’s history. Tekton, the most advanced sign-off-quality static timing analysis (STA) tool on the market, was introduced to the industry in the spring of 2010. This unprecedented growth was accomplished despite the chip industry’s shrinking electronic design automation (EDA) budgets and designers’ historical unwillingness to change sign-off tools.

“Tekton has garnered strong customer interest for multiple reasons,” said Jacob Avidan, general manager of Magma’s Digital Sign-Off Business Unit. “First and foremost, the need for faster runtimes and true multi-mode, multi-corner (MMMC) sign-off is not being met by legacy tools today. Second, Tekton’s superior architecture, which was designed specifically for multi-core processing and concurrent MMMC analysis, has been proven on production designs. And third, customer confidence is high in Magma’s ability to sustain its performance and technology leadership in timing sign-off solutions.”

Customers are using Tekton to accelerate post place-and-route engineering change order (ECO) loops as well as for final sign-off runs. With the slow runtimes of legacy tools and the increasing number of scenarios that need to be analyzed, today’s timing closure phase can take two to three months to complete. Tekton’s concurrent MMMC analysis and multi-threaded architecture can save tens – if not hundreds – of hours over the span of numerous ECO loops. Tekton also provides a huge savings in hardware costs for MMMC analysis. Recent customer results show savings between 75 and 95 percent of machine-count usage for running large numbers of scenarios. With fast and sign-off-accurate results in the ECO flow, customers can have confidence in using Tekton for final timing sign-off analysis and eliminate the need for additional STA point tools.

Tekton’s customers range from the largest networking and mobile broadband design houses to some of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. More than half of the top 20 IDMs and fabless semiconductor companies are committed to using Tekton. “The diversity of customers using Tekton has driven our R&D and support resources to produce a robust tool that works across a broad range of design styles and technology nodes including advanced nodes such as 28 and 20 nanometer. This diversity has also driven continued development to maintain Tekton’s competitive edge over other STA tools,” Avidan added. “In the last 9 months alone, Tekton’s runtime has been improved by over 2X while maintaining the same sign-off accuracy.”

Tekton was developed as part of a fully integrated system that includes extraction sign-off and place-and-route capabilities that use the same data base and are MMMC aware. This allows the platform engines to work simultaneously and to achieve higher quality of results and throughput compared to competitive point-tool solutions.

Out of the screened positive tests, more than 50% are confirmed cases tested with Western Blot Test for HIV-1 specific & 2. Rate of positivity out of the screened tests is 10 % in Mumbai and Surat but 30 - 40% at other places especially north. (due to the high awareness levels & rise in the number of HIV screenings conducted at Mumbai and Surat than other parts of India)

Commenting on the survey, Dr. Mrs. Jatinder Bhatia, Chief of Lab Services, Projects – North India, Metropolis Healthcare Ltd said,” Globally, the incidence of HIV that was rapidly increasing between 1990-1996 has slowly declined between 1996-2010. Various treatment methods and awareness programs helped in controlling the disease by creating mass awareness, educating people about safe sex and ill effects of HIV infection. As per the recent data, the incidence of HIV is maximum in younger age groups i.e. 20-30 years which is a major concern”.

There have been recent advances across various fields focusing on the prevention, diagnostics & treatment of this life-threatening disease. Overall, globally, with a healthy trend of the declining rate of HIV infections, individuals have become more aware of the ill effects of the disease and therefore are more focused towards working on the preventive measures to combat the disease.

Enhanced Micro Focus SilkTest Suite Cuts Testing Costs, Helps Build Better Software Faster

Micro Focus (LSE:MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, today announced the general availability of SilkTest 2011. The new suite of application testing software enables organizations to achieve the highest level of quality, flexibility and scalability possible throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

SilkTest now increases the quality of mission-critical applications running on any terminal-based host system through its integration with Micro Focus Rumba. In addition, SilkTest increases flexibility by extending its Web 2.0 capabilities with additional support for Silverlight, as well as enhanced support for Adobe Flex and Firefox. Additional features include User Access Compliance to support effective testing in standard user privileges, which not only makes it easier for users to work with SilkTest, but also eases admin control of the desktop environment.

As product lifecycles shrink, development practices must adapt to meet the demands of business. Organizations once had the luxury of time between product releases, but today’s fast business pace demands better software quality and quicker delivery times with fewer resources. SilkTest delivers advanced test automation capabilities that drive productivity, predictability and cost savings throughout the software development lifecycle. This latest release continues to push the boundaries of software development by enabling business domain experts to collaborate on test automation.

“Our mission with SilkTest is to help organizations achieve predictability and productivity throughout the development lifecycle and to drive smart innovation that enables effective collaboration across lines of business,” said Archie Roboostoff, Borland Portfolio Director, Micro Focus. “Where our competitors might focus on throwing complicated technology at a problem, we focus on fostering collaboration between the people developing the technology. Our first priority is providing our customers with tools that turn whiteboard ideas into customer-facing products faster than anyone in the industry. From cost savings to faster product delivery cycles, organizations using SilkTest will continue to build better software faster, regardless of framework, platform or system.”

New benefits and features of SilkTest:

o Complete integration with Rumba, Micro Focus’ leading terminal emulation product, delivers a unique visual testing approach to 3270 and 5250 applications. SilkTest’s object recognition and synchronization techniques, coupled with its ease of use, contribute to a productive and efficient testing experience.

o Support for Silverlight and Flex applications for both standalone applications and embedded applications provides a more seamless, holistic and realistic testing experience and shortens the time to market for Web 2.0 applications

o Cross browser support for Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 5 and 6 enables same test scripts to be used without modification for modern versions of both browsers, greatly reducing the test maintenance effort. One test working across all browsers reduces test cycles and gets products out to market faster than ever.

SilkTest is widely used by companies to replace repetitive manual testing with automated tests that can be run on a regular basis. Its ability to create powerful test automation across a broad range of application technologies helps organizations check software continuously as it changes, ensuring that defects don’t occur and that the applications run reliably. When using additional tools in the Borland solution set from Micro Focus, such as Caliber and SilkCentral Test Manager, customers will find that the time it takes to get an idea off the whiteboard and into the hands of an end user will be greatly reduced.

Panasonic, the global leader in innovation and technology, initiated a nationwide environment sensitization programme called the Panasonic Global Eco Learning Program (PGELP) across 75 schools which encourages and engages young minds to contribute towards a greener tomorrow. This programme was started in Delhi on 22nd September 2011. In India, till October 2011, Panasonic has covered 2480 students from 15 schools of Delhi - The Pinnacle School, St. Froebel, Deepalaya School, Mount Abu School, Delhi Public School (Vasant Vihar), Bal Bharti Public School, New Horizon School, Father Agnel School, Montfort Senior Secondary School, S.K Payal School, Delhi Public School (East of Kailash), Shiv Modern School, Shem Rock School Stanford Convent School and Glory Public School. The PGELP activity will be further taken to schools in cities – Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Pune, Hyderabad and Cochin.

Also known as the Ecoskool activity it involves educating school children by taking out time from their schedules, engaging them in an hour long fun filled session, sharing alarming environmental issues and highlighting how their modest contribution can bring about a change. As educating in the budding stage creates a lifetime impact, Panasonic has chosen an age bracket of 9 years- 12 years to inculcate the conservation thought process.

The activity which involves participation of students in the first stage and their parents in the next is conducted by promoters with good communication and presentation skills to generate an interest among the participants. Panasonic also presents participating children with badges and certificates to give them a sense of pride in playing a vital role in making the planet greener and safer to live. Also, as part of the programme, the promoter distributes leaves on which the students can write their names. To add to the enthusiasm, a graffiti wall is created with the names of students who have pledged to conserve the environment. The students are also invited to join the “Ecoskool” community on Facebook.

Globally, PGELP was started in August 2010 by Panasonic Headquarters in Japan and was kick-started in India on September 14 2010. Last year Panasonic covered 18367 students from 100 schools in 7 cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Bangalore under this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Daizo Ito - President, Panasonic India, said, “Ecos’kool concept is one among the many remarkable initiatives being undertaken by Panasonic across the globe as part of its “Go Green” commitment. Through this programme, we hope to create awareness about environmental issues in the present day scenario and ways to curtail the same amongst the youth in a fun filled and engaging manner.”

Commenting on this initiative, Ms. Archana Pental – Head Mistress, DPS, Vasant Vihar said, “We are thankful to Panasonic for conducting an inspirational and practical session with the Eco Club and students of class 4th on Global Warming. The message ‘Save Earth’ was clearly conveyed to the children through Panasonic Eco learning Programme and we assure that our students will further spread this message in the society.”

As a global citizen, employees of the Panasonic Group around the world are committed to implementing specific environmental activities in workplaces, households, and local communities and passing on our efforts to the next generation.

Katrina Kaif named the most dangerous Celebrity in Indian Cyber Space by McAfee

Katrina Kaif emerged as the most dangerous celebrity in the Indian cyber space, followed by Deepika Padukone; according to internet security company McAfee . McAfee researched popular culture’s most famous people to reveal the riskiest celebrity sportsmen, actors and politicians across the web to reveal the ‘Most Dangerous Indian Celebrity.’

Commenting on the findings of the report, Venkatasubrahmanyam Krishnapur, Senior Director, McAfee India, said, "In a celebrity crazy country such as India, cyber criminals find it very lucrative to use the names of popular figures as keywords to lure people to websites with malicious software. This year’s study found movie stars top the “most dangerous” list, while sports stars and politicians are among the safest.”

Fans looking for results on search engines using strings such as ‘name of celebrity’ combined with words like ‘free downloads’, ‘hot pictures’, ‘screen savers’, and ‘videos’ are at risk of running themselves into websites with malicious software and online threats designed to steal personal information.

“Searching for top celebrities continues to generate risky results,” said Paula Greve, director of Web security research at McAfee. “Consumers should be particularly aware of malicious content hiding in ‘tiny’ places like shortened URLs that can spread virally in social networking sites, or through e-mails and text messages from friends.”

The study for ‘Most Dangerous Celebrity’ used the McAfee® SiteAdvisor® site ratings which indicate the sites that are risky to search for celebrity names on the web and calculate an overall risk percentage.
