Having registered an impressive growth of 343% in May, leading premium car manufacturer Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. expects to substantially increase its domestic sales in the year 2012 with Brio & new City driving the growth momentum.
Brio has been very well received in the market and the company has sold more than 16500 units of Brio since the resumption of production in February 2012 and cumulatively more than 18500 units from its launch time. The company is quite upbeat with the market response to its real mass segment model Honda Brio and is hopeful that it will provide the additional volumes and drive growth in the year. Brio has been specifically designed for the Indian customers and is a true reflection of Honda’s DNA combining futuristic design, spacious interiors, peppy performance and safety. The Honda City has also done impressive sales of more than 15800 units in the past 4 months.
“In coming months, the Brio will go on to become a major player in the hatchback segment and customers will get to enjoy the same Honda experience in this segment as well. The current owners of the Brio are very happy about its styling, spaciousness and drivability. The premium styling of the new City with enhanced ground clearance and a segment first Sunroof have been very much appreciated by its customers. The sales result of the City clearly establishes its strong position in the segment, reiterating the fact that our customers are opting for City due to its aspirational value and not making their choices merely based on fuel options.” said Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Siel Cars India.
“The cost of ownership of Honda cars is much less and very attractive. Honda cars have low maintenance and running cost, high fuel efficiency and an excellent resale value which makes them an attractive purchase proposition. We are confident of the success of Brio and City in future as well” he further added.
HSCI expects a huge growth potential in tier 2 & tier 3 markets this year and therefore has been focusing on expansion of its sales network to reach out newer cities and markets. The company currently has 136 dealerships in 84 cities across India.
