The Karaoke World Championship India is powered by Nokia and commenting on this association Poonam Kaul, Director Communications, Nokia India says, “Nokia believes in connecting the youth to their passions – music, movies and sport. Nokia has a formidable musical legacy – over 40 lakh songs from Nokia Music Store, the largest repository of legal and digital Indian music, to offering DRM free music on our recently launched Nokia Asha series of smart phones and Mix Radio for our Lumia range – we have built a strong music connect with consumers. Hence, our association with Karaoke World Championship provided us the perfect opportunity to deliver our promise in connecting consumers to their passion - music. What adds to the excitement is that the Finals of the Karaoke World Championship is being hosted in Nokia’s home country - Finland. We are looking forward to a grand Karaoke Championship this season. ”

Lalit Kewalramani, Nash Events who has strategized and is executing the entire property says, “Local Karaoke competition features regularly in various clubs in India but this is unique in itself as it has a credibility of its own. Nothing can be bigger than this when it comes to making a Karaoke Competition. This is the epitome and is like a World Cup for Karaoke. Sponsors like McDowell No. 1 Soda, Nokia and Visit Finland showed an immediate interest in this fantastic event, which offers fun, music and interesting nightlife. We have created a foundation for the event last year and this year it has only grown in size and stature!”

Savio D’Sa, the legendary KJ instrumental in the Karaoke face change of India since 2002, says, “The unique aspect of KWC is that unlike a reality show, there are no live cameras to add to the nervousness of contestants. Only at a Karaoke Night will you see 3 strangers pop up on the mic to sing their favorite song, this symbolizes Fun, Friendship, Confidence & Sheer Delight. The most remarkable feature of karaoke is that the unpolished& the wildest singers get the loudest round of applause. KWC hopes to get even more wicked, wackier & wilder this year expecting such raw talent”

Visit Finland, India has come on board as a Tourism partner to this event. As the world championship is hosted by Finland, the India office of Visit Finland sees this as a brilliant opportunity to promote Finland. Commenting on this association Papori Bharati, Visit Finland (India)–says “Karaoke is a very popular entertainment in Finland and extremely glad that the finals are going to be held in Finland itself in 2012! Also happy to be associated with Karaoke World Championship – India”!

Not only the winners are getting a chance to go to Finland, Planet M, KWC’s Retail Partner are giving the Indian winners a golden chance to cut an Album exclusively for Planet M. The Championships arealso being conducted in selected Flagship stores of Plant M in India.
