The fourth and final day of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival saw enthusiastic participation from amateur golfers at the Karnataka Golf Association. With 120 golfers battling for a chance to represent India at the World Golfers Championships, and a lone spot on the Duke of Edinburgh Cup, KGA witnessed some great golf.
Hitoshi Fukui (Handicap - 8) had a great outing on the KGA course as he returned with the day's best gross score of 30 points. In the 0-5 Handicap category, Amitabh Poddar, starting with a Handicap of 3, scored 30 Nett points to emerge victorious, while Fukao Takahiro, with a Handicap of 5 was second with 28 Nett points, calculated under the Modified Stableford format. 6-10 Handicap category saw stiff competition between Shishir Patil and KGA President Sumit Rathor for the top position. Mr. Patil, playing off a Handicap of 10 scored 35 points to prevail over Mr. Rathor (Handicap 10) who ended the day with 34 Nett points to finish a close second.
Bipin Shah (Handicap 11) and Amar Chawla battled for supremacy in the 11-15 Handicap category, but Mr. Shah eventually won with a score of 35 Nett points, while Mr. Chawla (Handicap 12) had to settle for the runner-up position with 34 points. Adit Morzaria, starting with a Handicap of 18, turned in a great performance, scoring 39 points to finish on top in the 16-20 Handicap category. Chief Justice Vikramjit Singh, playing off a Handicap of 16 scored 35 Nett points finish second in the category. Starting with a Handicap of 21, Priyadarshi Harsha scored 38 Nett points to top the 21-24 Handicap Category, while A. Zameer Pasha (Handicap - 24) was the runner-up with 36 Nett points.
With exciting on course competitions lined up for all the participants, all the golfers had a great time on the final day of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival. Adit Morzaria won the Mantri Developers Smart (Straightest) Drive Contest on Hole # 2 while the Infinite Closest to pin contest on Hole # 8 was clinched by Vijay Abhimanyu. M. A. Poovaiah turned in a 292 yards shot to take win the Ruosh Longest Drive Contest on Hole # 9, and the Mantri Developers Closest to pin prize on Hole # 15 went to Nanda Kishore.
After four days of exciting golf at the KGA, Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival, which saw participation from top amateurs including Chikkarangappa, Khalin Joshi, Trishul Chinnappa and celebrities like Erapalli Prasanna, Syed Kirmani among others, has drawn to a close. The victorious team of 2 players will win a royal week-long trip on the luxurious Golden Chariot train. One winner from each of the five handicap categories will represent India in the World Golfers' Championship, while the player with the best gross score, whose name does not feature in the IGU Order of Merit, will get an opportunity to play at the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Cup. The Indian team for the World Golfers Championships to be held in Durban, and the winners of all the prizes, will be announced at the felicitation dinner at the city's premier luxury hotel - Park Plaza, Bengaluru on Sunday.
