Looking for Young Achiever 2012

The Young Achiever Award
The Young Achiever Award, now in its seventh successive year, is a state-wide search to identify young achievers in different spheres of activity. The Award was instituted in 2006 by Brigade Group, in association with Rotary Bangalore Midtown, with the objective of recognising and encouraging the efforts of young achievers in Karnataka. The selected individual or team receives a citation, trophy and cash prize of Rs 100,000.


Who qualifies as a Young Achiever?

The achievers can be male or female, an individuals or team. Interested youngsters can apply directly or be nominated by others. The only restriction is that candidates are between 16-28 years of age and residents of Karnataka.

What are the areas of activity?

The areas include community service, social work, agriculture, environmental awareness, communication, film, fine arts, literature, music, dance, theatre, sports, science, innovation, entrepreneurship, sports.



The selection process

A jury of eminent persons, from different walks of life, will evaluate the short-listed entries. The most important yardstick for selection is obviously the actual achievement. However, the jury also considers what it took to achieve the goal, the applicant’s commitment to his or her field of endeavor and evidence of a continual pursuit of excellence.

Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend a personal interview with some or all jury members in Bangalore, at which they will be required to make a short presentation about their achievements. The jury will make its final recommendations based on this personal interview. Results will be announced at an Awards Ceremony conducted in Bangalore.Last date for receipt of applications: 10 OCTOBER 2012

Rotary Bangalore Midtown

Rotary Bangalore Midtown, chartered in 1977, has over the past 30 years rendered notable yeoman service to the community. This includes: providing 10 life-saving ambulances, including the first ever Mobile Limb Ambulance for use in rural areas; building over 127 homes under its "Shelters" project; providing free medical care at its charitable dispensary to over 15,000 patients each year; and providing infrastructure at its adopted rural Govt. schools that educate more than 1,500 children.
