Kalyan Silks opens Bengaluru’s first world-class silk saree showroom

Kalyan Silks, the world leader in silk, opened in Bengaluru on 12th September. The showroom was jointly inaugurated by Sivaraj Kumar, the hat-trick superstar of Kannada and Privthiraj Sukumaran, the young superstar of Malayalam.


The function was attended by Mr. D. Venkatesh Murthy (His Worshipful Mayor, BBMP), Mr. L. Srinivas (Honourable Deputy Mayor, BBMP), Mr. R. Roshan Baig (Shivaji Nagar MLA), Mr. N.A. Haris (Shanti Nagar MLA), Mr. P. C. Mohan (MP, Bengaluru Central), Mr. Gopi (Corporator, Ward No. 110, BBMP), Mr. Irfan Razack (CMD, Prestige Group), Mr. Tanveer Ahmed (ED, Minera Group) and Mr. T.S. Kalyanaraman (CMD, Kalyan Jewellers).

The 30000 sq.ft. showroom, which is Kalyan Silks’s first showroom in India outside Kerala, is located near Safina Plaza, on Commercial Street and showcases over 2 lakh bridal sarees and a wide range of men’s wear, ladies’ wear, party wear and kids’ wear.

‘As a world leader in silk, we know Bengaluru expects a lot from us. And I am sure that we have everything to live up to the expectation of Bengaluru. For the past few months our looms have been working overtime to create the latest collections for the garden city. And I can personally assure you that we offer the lowest prices across categories,’ said T.S. Pattabhiraman, Chairman and Managing Director, Kalyan Silks.

Privthiraj Sukumaran, the brand ambassador of Kalyan Silks, said, ‘It is an honour to be a part of one of the few heritage brands from Kerala that have gone global.’

Kalyan Silks prides itself in nine world-class showrooms in Kerala and one in Dubai. By the end of 2013, Kalyan Silks will have added many more world-class showrooms to its portfolio. Two of the new outlets will be in Kerala, in Thiruvalla and Thiruvananthapuram. Kalyan Silks considers Karnataka as one of its major markets and will open four more world-class showrooms across the state. The new showrooms will come up in Mangalore, Mysore, Hubli and Belgaum. The expansion plans within the country will be powered by a capital investment of Rs. 250 crores while another Rs. 150 crores are earmarked for the network expansion activities outside India. Kalyan Silks will open showrooms in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia in the next two years, followed by the induction of a string of outlets across the GCC countries.
