MVJ College of Engineering wrestled its way to emerge champions of both Bangalore Zonal Round as well as The Inter- Zone Round of the recently concluded Kabaddi tournament 2012-13 organized by Visvesvaraya Technological University. Over 37 teams participated in the Bangalore Zonal Round held at KIT, Tiptur and 4 teams participated in the Inter-Zone Round held at Dr. TTIT, KGF. MVJ clinched the Kabaddi championship title, defeating New Horizon College of Engineering by 15 points in the Bangalore Zone Round and MVJ once again defeated New Horizon College of Engineering in the Inter-Zone round with a lead of 26 points.
The Bangalore Zone matches saw thrilling encounters, where MVJ held upper hand throughout the preliminary matches. Playing 5 matches and winning all 5, MVJ advanced to the finals, being played between MVJ & New Horizon College of Engineering. Aggression was written large on the players' faces as both the teams went all out in the finals; MVJ won with a lead of 15 points.
The 4 top teams from the Bangalore Zone participated in the Inter Collegiate Zonal round. Cheered enthusiastically by the fans, MVJ held out a strong challenge against New Horizon College in the Inter- Zone round and was on course to a resounding win. The Final Match saw MVJ winning with a lead of 26 points.
Murali N.T was titled ‘The All-rounder’ of the match. Speaking at the occasion he said, “I feel we played the best with lane discipline. MVJ College is one of the best colleges as we have many extracurricular activities here and this is very encouraging especially for students who love sports.”
The winning team of MVJCE included Kuruvatteppa, Pramod Kumar, Captain), Vijay, Abhijit, Murali, Harish Kumar, Javad Ahmad, Kishore Gouda Patil, Akhandeshwar, Ramesha, Nitin, Shivansu and Lokesh Naik.
