Pankaj Advani withdraws from the International Snooker Championship
A clash in the dates of two upcoming international tournaments- The Annual World Billiards Championship and the International Snooker Championship left Pankaj Advani with a tough choice. The public and experts have been debating and pondering if Pankaj will choose to play at the World Billiards Championship or at the International Snooker Championship in China to continue to make his mark in his debut year on the Professional Snooker Tour. Unable to participate in both events due to the clash in dates, Pankaj Advani has withdrawn his participation from the International Snooker Championship in China and as a result is paying a statutory fine.

Speaking on his decision Pankaj said, "A few months ago I took up the challenge of playing both Billiards and Snooker at the highest level and with a decision as unique as that, I was aware that there may be certain repercussions. And while an ideal situation would have allowed me to participate at both events, the clash of dates has forced me to pick 'one' "

With seven world titles under his belt, six in Billiards and one in Snooker, Pankaj has proved his mettle in both disciplines. Following his brilliant victories over former World no. 1 John Higgins as well as legendary cueist Steve Davis on the tour post his recent debut, 27-year old Pankaj has shown great promise in becoming a force to reckon with on the Professional Snooker Circuit as well.

As the only active player to be competing at the highest level in both disciplines, Pankaj has been splitting his time between Sheffield, UK and India. When quizzed on balancing both disciplines, Pankaj said "It's the challenge of playing both Billiards and Snooker at the highest competitive level that keeps me going. The contrasting nature of both sports is what keeps me engaged and stimulated."

With an intense focus on the upcoming World Billiards Championship, Pankaj is hopeful to add yet another feather to his cap with a victory this year. Speaking of what to expect at the tournament, an excited Pankaj said "Billiards has always been a test of the mind and endurance. I am very eager to play at the World Billiards Championship as I have always enjoyed playing at an event of such magnitude."

All set for the World Billiards Championships to be held in Leeds from the 18th-28th October, Pankaj Advani is looking at continuing his excellent form to set ablaze the baize at the tournament.
