Oxford Bookstores partners with Tibor Jones South Asia Prize 2013 to be announced at Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival 2013
Oxford Bookstores, India’s leading bookstore chain from the Apeejay Surrendra group, today announced its partnership with Tibor Jones South Asia Prize 2013 to be presented at the fourth edition of the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival 2013 slated from January 9 to January 13, 2013. The literary prize is an initiative led by Tibor Jones & Associates, a leading London-based literary agency that represents bestselling authors such as Wilbur Smith and Rem Koolkaas with the support of the University of East Anglia (UAE) and the Charles Pick Fellowship (CPF), to support and encourage budding and unrepresented writers in the South Asian region. Tibor Jones South Asia Prize 2013 winners will be felicitated at a special award ceremony on January 10, 2013 in Kolkata as part of the ongoing Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival 2013.
Martin Pick, Charles Pick Fellowship Chairman and TJSAP 2013 judge, shared, "The Tibor Jones South Asia Prize team is excited to partner with Oxford Bookstores to host the 2013 prize ceremony at the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival. Oxford Bookstores and Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival celebrate vibrancy of intellect and words in a milieu of culture and heritage. The partnership is significant as both the literary entities aim to promote the spirit of written words and encourage new writing. 
Stepping into its second year, the Tibor Jones South Asia Prize judging process will be chaired by Delhi-based publisher and writer Urvashi Butalia along with a panel of four esteemed jury from the literary circuit. The prize is a rewarding platform for up-and-coming writers seeking an entry in the world of literature. There will be an opportunity to win a cash prize of Rupees 1 lakh, along with a prized literary representation by Tibor Jones & Associates. Entrants are also encouraged to apply for the Charles Pick Fellowship at UAE which includes a cash award of £10,000 and six months board on campus at UAE in Norwich, UK. Submissions of manuscripts for the 2013 prize are now open through November 12th, 2012.   
In its inaugural year chaired by Prof. Amit Chaudhuri (UAE) over 80 manuscripts were submitted which culminated in Srikumar Sen and Rohit Manchanda being announced as joint winners and both receiving literary representation from Tibor Jones & Associates.  Srikumar Sen’s winning manuscript, The Skinning Tree is scheduled to be published by Picador India in December 2012.
