Serco, the FTSE 100 international service company today announced the appointment of Alpna Khera as Chief Executive, India, for its India Frontline Services business.
In her role as Chief Executive, Alpna will be responsible for developing Serco’s front-line services business in India with particular focus on Transportation, Healthcare and Education services. Serco already has a substantial presence in India with over 40,000 people delivering Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services to both international and domestic customers from 42 centres across the country, part of Serco’s global BPO capability. We are now looking at how we can bring some of the skills and capabilities that Serco has in delivering front-line services around the world to help deliver high quality and efficient services in India. We have already had some success in this area and from early 2013 will be operating and maintaining the new bus corridor in the city of Indore, Serco’s first front-line service in India.
Alpna will also serve as a member on Serco’s regional AMEAA Board. Serco AMEAA is one of the four divisions of Serco Group, covering Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australasia. With a growing workforce of 13,000 people, Serco AMEAA provides front line services across Justice, Immigration, Transport, Integrated Facilities Management, Aviation, Defence, Health and Technology sectors.
Alpna’s career spanning over 20 years has been in the infrastructure industry across the Energy & Transportation sectors in field services, business development, sales and operations, working in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. She joins Serco from GE, where she had a successful 11 year career, the last 5 years of which was with GE transportation and prior to that with GE Energy. Prior to GE, she served with BGGTS (a JV between and GE and BHEL) and Torrent Power. She brings with her strong and trusted customer relationships and vast experience of working across Government, Public and Private sectors in India.
