CarZ fuels 5th Radio Control India National Championships

CarZ fuels 5th Radio Control India National Championships
CarZ, one of India’s leading independent multi brand auto solutions network, joined hands with the R/C Racers Community in India to present the 5th edition of the Radio Control India National Championships that put R/C on the map of Hyderabad. The recently concluded motor sport extravaganza saw racers from all parts of the country convene at the newly constructed world-class R/C race facility, Axles Raceway at Kompally, Hyderabad to burn rubber and kick-up dust.

Radio-controlled car races or R/C races as they are known are a lesser-known game for speed junkies that are fast finding their place in the city. Radio-controlled (or R/C) cars are self-powered model cars or trucks that can be controlled from a distance using a specialized transmitter. These cars are powered by various sources. Most fuel-powered models use small internal combustion engines fueled by a special mixture of nitromethane, methanol, and oil (in most cases a blend of castor oil and synthetic oil). These are referred to as "nitro" cars.

Speaking at the event, the Founder and Managing Director of CarZ, Venu Donepudi said, "CarZ is proud to bring to the spotlight the exciting but hitherto non-mainstream sport of R/C racing. After experiencing the F1 event recently held at the Buddh International Circuit, we wanted to give the people a similar rush through this sport, which is already a rage abroad and is just beginning to gain traction in the country. There is also the advantage of it being a completely safe sport that puts neither the drivers nor viewers at risk of accidents. As of now there are hardly any tracks in India. Conducting this event in Hyderabad is a good sign for the sport."

The R/C cars run at around 80kmph and are known to go upto 140kmph with the right modifications and tuning. They are high-end cars which run on glow fuel made of nitro methanol that is used in real racing cars. The R/C cars also halt at every pit stop for repair and fuel. For a good car, racers end up spending anything between Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Bharat Penmatcha, the man behind the project, said, “The track itself is of international standard. Since the location wasn't anywhere close to a beach, five different types of soil had to be acquired to make the track. It is dust-free and has its fair share of sharp turns and obstacles that makes the race all the more challenging and pleasing to watch.”
