 DS Research Centre Launches Nationwide Special Drive On World Cancer Day
D. S. Research Centre  organized  a special nationwide drive on the occasion of World Cancer Day i.e. on 4th February 2013. A gathering of 100-120 people and staff from D.S. Research Centre along with the students of Vasavi High School and Rani Sarala Devi College participated in this special drive to create awareness about cancer, its treatments and rehabilitation.


The programme was inaugurated by our Honourable Chief Guest Mr. Ashish Ballal. Ashish Ballal is a former Indian goalkeeper of Field Hockey. He represented India in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1990 World cup, 3 Champions Trophy tournaments 2 Asian Games and 2 Asia Cup . The inauguration ceremony was followed by a walk-a-thon from Lalbagh Main gate to Town-Hall with 100 school/college students, teachers and DSRC Staff ending with a brief felicitation ceremony for the participants. The programme was started from 10:30 a.m. in the morning and continued till 12:30 p.m. i.e. a duration of maximum 2 hours.

Research Center was established in the year of 1965 under the guidance of Dr. Uma Shankar Tiwari and Prof. Shiva Shankar Trivedi. The contribution of D. S. Research Center towards cancer treatment has not only created a stir in India but has also reached to international countries. Its success has been phenomenal. Today it has five units throughout the country. They are located at: Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Kolkata (West Bengal), Guwahati (Assam), Bangalore (Karnataka) Mumbai (Maharashtra). New clinics in all the zones of India are in the immediate organizational agenda at places like Delhi, Silchar, Siliguri, Bangladesh etc.
