Suzlon wins 103 MW order from Oil & Natural  Gas Corporation Limited
Suzlon Group, the world’s fifth leading* and India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer has received an order for a 102.9 MW project from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), a Fortune 500 Company. The project comprises 49 units of Suzlon’s S88 – 2.1 MW wind turbines and will be commissioned in the FY 2013-14. The project will be commissioned in the state of Rajasthan.
ONGC currently has an existing installed base of 51 MW from wind energy projects operating in Jakhau site, Gujarat. The new order will take ONGC’s total installed wind power capacity to 153.9 MW.Speaking on the order, Mr Rohit Modi, CEO – India and emerging markets, Suzlon Energy Limited, said: “Suzlon is pleased to once again partner with ONGC in driving forward their commitment to sustainable energy, this repeat order from ONGC underscores Suzlon’s technological and service delivery capabilities in the Indian wind energy sector. The S88 turbine is designed for operations in medium wind regimes with the ability to withstand extreme conditions and operate effectively with lower maintenance costs. The S88 has enjoyed international success, with over 2,400 units installed worldwide, translating to over 5 GW of capacity.
