Sudha Murty releases Baa Sangathi album by Techies4Kannadan
It was a musical evening to remember! Techies4Kannada, a group of IT professionals with representations from around the world today launched its first music album - Baa Sangaati -- as a mark of uniting the global Kannada IT community with the magic of new Kannada melodies. Author, Chairperson of Infosys Foundation Padmashri Dr. Sudha Murty released the album amidst a packed audience of IT professionals, Kannada music lovers and representatives of Kannada film and music industry. Baa Sangaati... in the Journey of Love is showcased as Techies4Kannada's gift to the global Kannada IT community for Ugadi. The album will also soon be released in other locations around the world. Addressing the audience, Dr. Sudha Murty congratulated Techies4Kannada for bringing out a music album, which was on par with the best in the industry. “The lyrics and music are interesting. Both lyrics and music are complementary to each other. In the absence of lyrics that add value to music or vice versa, any song will not be melodious or impactful. That Techies4Kannada have been successful in their maiden venture speaks volumes of their talent,” she added. Well-known Kannada film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, the Guest of Honour, in his address, noted that the efforts of Techies4Kannada were commendable. “We often hear that IT professionals face severe paucity of time because of their hectic work schedule. If their work culture becomes routine, then they will not have time to pursue their hobbies and interests. Under such circumstances, IT professionals will have to surrender to some kind of art. These IT professionals have shown that it is possible to balance life work. I admire their level of professionalism in bringing out this music album,” he said. Music composer V Sridhar, singers Hemanth Kumar and Dr. Shamitha Malnad were present on the occasion. Speaking about the album, Karthik Somanath from Infosys and member of Techies4Kannada, remarked, “The album comprises eight soulful melodies across myriad emotions of love and romance. While the composition, lyrics, production & execution is entirely driven by IT professionals, leading playback singers have been roped in for this project in order to be able to connect with a wider audience.” Karthik has composed the music for Baa Sangaati. Krishnamurthy Hosakote from a leading IT firm, a core team member of Techies4Kannada said, “Techies4Kannada plans to take up similar projects from time-to-time, while also introducing new talents from the IT circuit in playback singing. As the first step, Baa Sangaati has introduced one new IT talent in playback singing in the project."

Krishnamurthy threw light upon the fact that most IT companies have active Kannada groups, which are worthy platforms for talent in Kannada music. “The event is also a humble attempt to encourage and inspire several like-minded IT communities to join hands with Techies4Kannada to do their bit to connect the world with the harmony of Kannada music,” he added. The album launch function had a collective representation of IT professionals from several companies including Infosys, IBM, iGate, Alcatel-Lucent, Seimens, Rockwell Automation, GE Healthcare and many others. Karthik Somanath, Paawana Poonacha and Shashikanth Narayan have penned the lyrics for the 8 tracks of the album.
