Thermax enables BYOD for Employees through Citrix Desktop Virtualization solution - XenDesktop

Thermax enables BYOD for Employees through Citrix Desktop Virtualization solution - XenDesktop
Thermax, a Pune based energy environment major, today announced the implementation of Citrix desktop virtualisation solution. With Citrix XenDesktop®, Thermax is poised to enhance information security and improve its productivity and cost savings.

With five manufacturing facilities in India and four abroad, Thermax has been growing steadily. However, the company was being weighed down with their legacy IT infrastructure. Hence, to avoid the cumbersome process of replacing 1000-1500 traditional desktops, the company opted for the Citrix XenDesktop solution. Additionally, being an engineering company, there was a major concern for managing the data centrally, protecting the confidentiality of “intellectual property” (IP) documents that included engineering drawings and avoiding quotation leaks.

Commenting on the deployment, Mr. Anil Nadkarni, CIO, Thermax said “After a thorough market assessment, instead of an IT infrastructure upgrade we decided to deploy the Citrix desktop virtualization solution. The biggest advantage has been that our organization has now become BYOD ready and the anytime, anywhere access has enormously improved the company’s decision-making. Besides flexibility, Citrix XenDesktop has also given us the advantage of managing data centrally, thereby giving us the power of enhanced security and control.”

The Citrix XenDesktop solution was rolled out at two of Thermax’s manufacturing facilities – Pune and Baroda. Out of the 4,500 desktops in India, Thermax has already migrated 800 users onto the new solution and plans to extend it to 1,000 more employees within the next 5-6 months. Barring the engineering applications, Thermax has made all the non-engineering applications (such as ERP, eMail, instant messaging, HR application) available through Citrix XenDesktop.

Sanjay Deshmukh, Area Vice President, India Subcontinent, Citrix said “Companies today are looking at transforming the way they work and compute in order to prepare themselves  better for the overall challenges and ambiguity in the business environment.  Progressive companies are embracing business solutions like Executive Mobility, BYOD and Workshifting to improve employee productivity and optimise cost. We are pleased to support Thermax in their journey of business transformation by providing their employees flexibility of working from any device and any location. Citrix Desktop Virtualization solution will drive this transformation and help Thermax not only lower operational costs but also improve employee productivity, information security and business continuity.”
