Faster activation for AP subscribers with Uninor’s new concept of “Mee Stores
Uninor has announced its next phase of expansion in Andhra Pradesh with 100 additional network sites, 1500 additional points of sale and a brand new concept of Mee Stores that will deliver faster activation for subscribers choosing Uninor. This expansion was announced today by the company’s CEO Yogesh Malik and Uninor’s Circle Business Head for Andhra Pradesh Satish Kannan.

The Uninor Mee Stores are a first ever shop-in-shop concept launched by any mobile operator in Andhra Pradesh. These are exclusive Uninor mini-stores located within traditional multi-brand telecom outlets in the state. Each of these Mee Stores will be manned by a Uninor Customer Activation Officer who will facilitate a faster activation of new Uninor connections. The Mee stores will offer new connections, recharge vouchers and value added services to its existing and new customers.

14 such Mee Stores were launched by Uninor today; the number is expected to increase to 30 by the end of June.

“Every day we challenge ourselves to make products and processes simpler for our customers. This is what the Mee Stores do – make the activation process faster and provide an exclusive store experience within traditional telecom shops,” said Yogesh Malik, CEO of Uninor. “We are fast approaching our break-even in the AP circle – not through expensive tariffs or complex products – but through the cheapest call rates and a mass market focus,” he added.

“Our plan is to go deeper and wider in AP. With this phase of expansion, through 100 additional network sites and 1500 additional points of sale; we will add 130 new towns and villages to our network coverage. In each of these, we will go with the lowest tariffs in the market and simple products that majority of AP’s mass market mobile users really need,” said Satish Kannan.

As per the recent COAI report, Uninor has gained 57,404 customers in April, making it a total of 43,62,090 Uninor customers in Andhra Pradesh. The company makes its connections and recharges available through 56,000 retailers and 136 Uninor exclusive stores across the circle. On an average, 8000 new subscribers are joining the Uninor network in AP every day.
