As a part of their endeavour to create awareness about sports training at grassroots level, nineteen players from South United Football Club, including team mentor Noel Wilson participated in the TCS World 10k Marathon, held in Bangalore on 19th May 2013.
The football players were running in a marathon for the first time ever, starting with the Majja Run as a part of the TCS World 10K Marathon.
There are nineteen players who participated in the marathon were: Vinay Kiran R, Pradeep Paul, Amdes Thiruvathanadhan , Madhukaran , Shridhar, Sunil Kumar, RamajahGopal, Stephen Venkatesh , K. Shiva Kumar , R.Mani Vannan , Vinoth Kumar , Razzakh, Adwin Gosula ,Solai Malai, Rahul Sharma , Harpreet Singh, V R Murugappan and Mathew Onattu.
The young footballers participated in Majja run as living examples of how sport can make a difference, can put food on the table, can bring smiles, can raise families, can make dreams come true, bring people together but most of all spread cheer.
Many of these players hail from Bangalore and would like to take this opportunity to create awareness about South United Football Club and the importance of grassroots training in sports.
“We at LS are extremely sensitive to the needs of the community and how sports can benefit it. As are growing action of using sport as a tool for social change we have recently adopted the Reaching Hand Foundation's Orphanage in Bangalore and are providing football coaching for them. The talent is clearly there and we hope to develop some youngsters to a level where they can have a choice of making this their career. As our continued endeavor to change lives using football we must make people aware of the sports benefits to society,” Lokknath R. Char, CEO, Lokko Sports said.

They won the Kedari Redekar Cup in 2012, were the runners up in the Bangalore District Football Association Super League and also played in the I-League 2, the second highest league tournament in India. The team has a strong coach in former football player Raman Vijayan, and a mentor in former Indian football player Noel Wilson.
