AP becomes Uninor’s 3rd circle to achieve breakeven

AP becomes Uninor’s 3rd circle to achieve breakeven
With its ultra-low cost operating model and the cheapest tariffs in the market, Uninor has today achieved its major milestone of financial break-even in the Andhra Pradesh circle. This has been achieved within 3.5 years of start of operations in the circle, making Uninor the fastest operator to reach break-even in the state.

“Profitability must not come at the cost of expensive tariffs for customers. AP has now become our 3rd circle to reach the break-even goal, proving the success of our ultra-low cost model that allows us to offer the cheapest tariffs to our subscribers,” said Yogesh Malik, CEO of Uninor. “As we announce our break-even in AP today, I also want to reiterate that Uninor will continue to be the most affordable mobile service in the market,” he added.

With this milestone, the company has also announced a significant expansion plan of its retail and network across the state.

1500 new retailers, 140 more network sites: Uninor expansion in AP now underway

Uninor had earlier announced the setting up of 15 Mee Stores – a unique concept of shop-in-shops within traditional retail outlets for faster activations. The company has now already set up 41 such stores which will be expanded further. Additionally, 1500 new retail points will be added to Uninor’s current retail presence of 55,000. 50 new express stores on the retail front will be added to the existing 132 stores across AP. On the network too, Uninor has already deployed 40 of the 100 new network sites announced a month ago and has today announced a further increase to 140 new sites.

Commenting on the break-even and the next phase of expansion in AP, the Circle Business Head Satish Kannan said, “I credit this achievement to the smart choice that mobile subscribers are making in AP by choosing Uninor over others. Uninor is the only operator in AP offering extra talk time benefits on all the denominations. With break-even, we now start our next phase of expansion that will see us expanding our network, retail and distribution across the state. Our focus will be on strengthening our presence in cities and towns we are present in and expanding farther into semi-rural markets.”

1000km road show with the CEO launched

To celebrate the success of reaching break-even and to mark the next phase of business expansion in AP, Uninor also launched a road-show to cover small and big towns of Andhra Pradesh. Led by the CEO of the company, the Uninor team will cover a distance of close to 1000 kilometers over 3-days; starting at Hyderabad and travelling to Nalgonda, Vijayawada and Kurnool– and several villages that fall en-route. During this road-show, the Uninor team will meet its customers, retail and distribution partners and employees in various zones and also launch new network sites at several locations.
“This simply is our way; the way Uninor works. It is our responsibility to go where our customers and retail partners are – understand what they need from Uninor and ensure we meet their expectations. For us every customer matters,” said Yogesh Malik, CEO of Uninor. “Andhra Pradesh is high on our priority and we will go deeper and wider into this circle with our network, retail and sabse sasta services,” he added.
