"Cauvery” Kala Mela from 15.07.2013 to 24.07.2013

Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited is organizing an exhibition and sale of handicrafts, textiles and jewellery, known as “Cauvery” Kala Mela from 15.07.2013 to 24.07.2013 at the premises of “Cauvery”, Karnataka State Arts & Crafts Emporium, No.8/30, 6th ‘C’ Main, 30th Cross, 4th Block, Jayanagara, Bangalore – 560 011 (Opposite Maiyas Hotel and Police Station). Skilled artisans and weavers from across the country will display and market their products directly to the connoisseurs of arts and crafts of Bangalore more particularly from Jayanagara, J.P.Nagar, Banashankari, Basvangudi and BTM Layout. The artisans will enable themselves by comprehending the complexities of retail marketing and based on the feedback they get from customers, innovative designs will be developed by  them. The premises is filled with lush green trees giving a pleasant and cool feeling.

Sri.Prakash B. Hukkeri, Hon’ble Minister for Small Scale Industries, Sugar and Endowment will inaugurate “Cauvery” Kala Mela on 15.07.2013 at 4.00 P.M. Sri.B.N.Vijaya Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Jayanagara, Bangalore, Sri.Ramamurthy, Hon’ble Member, BBMP will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited was established in the year 1964 with the objective of preserving, developing and promoting handicrafts of the state. There are 5000 registered artisans. 13 Craft Complexes have been established across the state wherever there is concentration of artisans. Besides, establishing common facilities centers, 1220 living cum work sheds have been allotted to the deserving artisans at these craft complexes. In order to provide marketing support to the artisans, 13 showrooms, popularly known as “Cauvery”, Karnataka State Arts & Crafts Emporium have been established in various cities across the country.

The corporation has achieved net sales of Rs.48.00 Crores during the year 2012-13 and has earned net profit of Rs.2.17 Crores. For the year 2013-14 an ambitious target of Rs.60.00 crores sales turnover has been fixed.

During the year 2013-14, 10 exhibitions and sales will be organized in various cities. It is our earnest desire that the citizens of Bangalore may visit “Cauvery” Kala Mela organized in an unique way and encourage the artisans.
