Gangavaram Port Limited as a part of their Corporate Responsibility program is organizing “Sewing Training program” for the women in surrounding villages. The objective of the program is to train groups of women in a skill that they can use to support themselves and their children independently. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Chintalapudi Venkat Ramaiah, MLA, Gajuwaka in Vadlapudi village, Gajuwaka in presence of Mr. G Brahmiah, Director (Operations), Mr. V. Janardhan Rao, Additional Director (Operations), Mr. K. Raja Ratnam Naidu, Senior Vice-President (R R & Security), Mr. LPS. Ramu Naidu and Assistant Vice-President (Liaison).
As a part of the first batch of the program 50 women have been selected from nearby villages. These women will have to undergo 6 weeks of training where they will know about theoretical & practical knowledge about stitching, innovative clothing designs and working with progressive concepts. The Sewing training will provide the women with the opportunity to be self-employed and supplement the family income. Upon completing the tailoring program, each woman will be issued certificate this will help the women to get employment in Apparel Park.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. K. Raja Ratnam Naidu, Senior Vice-President (R R & Security) Gangavaram Port Limited said, “We at GPL aim to uplift and give equal status to the women of the surrounding areas through Women Empowerment activities like sewing and stitching programs. The main aim of this program is to enhance the quality of life of women through increased knowledge and skills.
