BMS College of Engineering organised ‘Reach Out Programme’ in association with FKCCI
B.M.S College of Engineering in collaboration with Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), organized the first ‘Reach out Programme’ recently at their campus. The FKCCI ‘Reach Out Programme’ is a unique initiative of the Human Resource and Skill Development Committee introduced by Committee Chairman, Mr. Ramkumarr Seshu.The programme’s primary aim was to bridge the gap between industry and academia. It plans to have an industry-academia interface by way of lectures, workshops, internships. The larger aim of this initiative is to bridge the skill gap that exists in the state currently.
 As part of this initiative, the first interaction at BMSCE saw the participation of Office Bearers of FKCCI-Mr. S. Sampathraman, Senior Vice-President, Mr. Tallam Dwarakanath, Vice-President, Mr. M.C. Dinesh, Chairman-Industry Committee, Mr. Ramkumarr Seshu, Chairman and Mr. Srinath Birur, Co-Chairman of the HR and Skill Development Committee, Dr. Nagendra, Prof. and Dean, Department of Management Studies, BMSCE, Distinguished Faculty of BMSCE and recently enrolled MBA students.
Dr. Nagendra welcomed and appreciated the initiative of FKCCI in reaching out to academia. He also expressed that, it was a privilege for the college to have such prominent members of the industry in the campus and look forward for such association in the future.
Mr. S. Sampathraman, at the outset, complimented the students for being avid listeners during the interaction and highlighted that it is not FKCCI that is reaching out but it is the 200,000 direct and indirect members that FKCCI has under its membership. He assured that FKCCI would take three interns per year. Apart from internships, he also urged students to take up evening jobs, involve in projects to hone their skills.
Mr. Ramkumar Seshu brilliantly engaged the students by asking them to do some mental and physical exercises. His talk revolved around building confidence in the young minds about their future course of action. He categorically said that mind was both the biggest enemy and the greatest friend and it depended upon each one of us to choose the former or the latter. He enumerated five great steps to a successful life self belief; humility to learn; operate as a team player; to never give up; and enjoy the journey.
