Stroke team at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad hosted a One day Free Brain Stroke Campaign with the theme “Brain Stroke – Every Minute Counts” - to educate and and builds awareness amongst public about brain stroke and help them fight against this growing menace in our society, on Tuesday at Apollo Health City, Jubilee Hills. Brain stroke is a medical emergency, which is characterized by sudden onset of weakness, inability to speak, impaired vision, severe headache or imbalance while walking.
Team of Neurophysicians at the hospital addressed and educated around 400 visitors about precautions, lifestyle modification and highlighted the importance of Window Period in Brain Stroke treatment - Stroke treatment benefits the most within the FIRST 4.5 HOURS of the onset of symptoms. The visitors were checked for Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, Body Mass Index, Body Fat Index and were counselled on Diet, Stress Management, Smoking & Alcohol cessation, Diabetic management, Physiotherapy, occupational & Speech therapy counselling etc. Each of them was assessed for family risk factors and counselled. Educational posters and literature was displayed on Symptoms of Stroke & how to Act FAST. Free Education material/ leaflets along with checks have been given to all walk in & patients.
