Embassy of Colombia presents India – Colombia Visual Arts Project – Ping Pong
In days of cultural highs, the heart of the country will witness a project of exception all the way from Colombia – Ping Pong. The visual art project will be presented to Indian audience as a part of plan of promotion of Colombia through Embassy of Colombia in New Delhi from November 06-20, 2013 in Jamia Milia Islamia University in the M.F. Hussain Art Gallery. The exhibition will begin at 5:00 pm with an interactive session from the artists.
Ping Pong is a project in which each artist selects 10 themes and then those themes are exchanged. Both of them create 20 paintings in a span of 2 months time with 20 decided themes. And in the end, an art project of 40 drawings is created. This time the participating artists are: Angela Maria Restrepo (Colombia) and for the very first time, Suhasini Kejriwal (India). All the artists have represented their works in prestigious exhibitions and gained fame and accolades in recent past. The preparation of the project started long back in June 2013, when the artists exchanged 10 words, themes or phrases and now are finishing the drawings for each word. The outcome will be 20 paintings/ artwork from both ends.
The event will begin with a cultural dialogue and experience of the artists and launching of the visual arts book on the evening of November in Jamia Art Gallery and the art project will be showcased to who’s who of the art fraternity in New Delhi. On the following days, the exhibition will be open to public.
This event will be another example of ongoing culturally rich associations between India and Colombia and will take to another level of strengthening ties in culture.
Ambassador of Colombia to India, Juan Alfredo Pinto said “Colombian artists have showcased their work in the past as well, but this project will bring two nations together intellectually and creatively. We hope to bring more collaborative projects together not only in field of culture, but in trade, tourism and bilateral relationships.”
