STPI has been proactively involved in creating a supportive ecosystem for the Industry, so as to enable the industry to realize its potential and to lead the country towards growth and prosperity.
STPI has been one of the growth drivers for the Indian Information Technology and Hardware Industry in the last two decades by implementing policies and incentives of Govt of India and providing infrastructure support in terms of Data-communication Services, Incubation services to nurture their growth. STPI’s industry promotional and service provider role has been one of the ingredients in the success stories of Indian IT offshore Industries. Today over 1400 software companies and 30 Electronic Hardware companies are under STPI Umbrella and are contributing to the GDP of India.
STPI Bangalore has largest number of Software exporting companies with the export of Rs.95,000 Crs. during the last financial year 2012-13, which constitute 39% of the national exports from STPI. STPI Units in Karnataka provide Direct Employment to 5.4 lakh people. Bangalore has largest cluster of Technology and BPO companies, Captives and Large Indian companies.
Every year, STPI has been awarding the IT companies for their performance and contribution to IT industry. Accordingly, the top performing IT companies would be awarded in the current edition of the event, ‘Bangalore ITE.biz 2013’ for the year 2012-13.
An eminent committee consisting of representatives from STPI- Government of India, Government of Karnataka, Industry Bodies like IESA, Academia like IIMB, Media and Industry have scrutinized the performance of the IT companies in terms of consistency in exports, employment and other related parameters and have recommended the awards under the following 7 major categories, covering entire spectrum of IT, ITES and Electronics & Hardware Exporting Companies.
1. Highest Growth in IT/ITES Exports
2. Highest Exporter – IT, ITES from Tier-II/III Region
3. Highest Exporter - Electronic Hardware sector from Bangalore and Tier-II/III Region
4. Highest New Jobs Creator in IT and ITES Sector
5. Highest Exports per Employee in IT and ITES Sector
6. Highest % of Women Employer in IT and ITES Sector
7. Highest % of Differently-abled Manpower Employer in IT and ITES Sector
In addition to these awards, similar to the previous financial year, the companies who have embarked into the ‘Billion Club’ category (Exports greater than Rs.1000 crs) are recognized as ‘IT Pride of Karnataka’ for their outstanding performance in IT Exports and continued contribution to IT Industry during FY 2012-13.
As a result, 21 companies under the above said 7 categories of Awards and 17 companies as IT Pride of Karnataka, would be awarded on ‘STPI IT Exports Awards Function’ to be held at Lalit Ashok, Bangalore on 23rd October 2013 from 6 p.m. onwards, during the 3 days event of Bangalore ITE.Biz 2013.
