Observing the International Volunteer Day on December 5, NASSCOM Foundation organized its second annual week long ‘BRing the Change’ initiative under its MyKartavya program. During this week, NGOs such as Association of People with Disability, Dream a Dream, Hope Foundation, Magic Bus along with a few schools joined hands with NASSCOM Foundation and put forward an array of volunteering opportunities for the employees of the IT-BPM industry.
The week long initiative saw over 80 volunteers from companies such as Concentrix, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited (RBEI), TE GSSI, VMware, WNS enthusiastically participate in various events and workshops organized around health and hygiene, etiquette, newspaper reading, story-telling, arts and crafts for school children, pre-employment training for persons with disabilities in Bangalore, Delhi NCR and Mumbai. Volunteers from RBEI cooked a special meal for children at Hope Foundation's School of Hope. Volunteers from TE GSSI launched their project ‘Help our schools’ wherein 230 students will be taught spoken English, Hindi and Maths in a Bangalore school.
Ms. Rita Soni, CEO NASSCOM Foundation commented on the occasion, “NASSCOM Foundation’s volunteering program- MyKartavya, has always received an encouraging response from the industry. Our BRing the Change week, each year, presents volunteers with unique opportunities to support the causes, closest to their heart. It’s inspiring to see the employees adopt volunteering as a way of life to contribute towards a positive social impact.”
WNS has been a staunch supporter of the several volunteering opportunities offered by NASSCOM Foundation’s MyKartavya program in the past. WNS hosted a workshop on Marketing and Communications skills for NGOs as a part of the ‘BRing the Change Week 2012’. This year its employees would focus on imparting education to underprivileged children (also the core theme of the WNS Care Foundation) in their support of ‘BRing the Change 2014’. “The divide among the haves and have-nots is something we try to address with the powerful weapon of education. WNS Cares Foundation’s methodology and mission are unique because they were both chosen by the employees of WNS through a survey a couple of years ago. Our volunteers known as TRAILBLAZERS, are passionate about spending personal time in these programs. Be it reading sessions, mentoring or personality development sessions, a Trailblazer is involved from the start until the impact is created. WCF is not an initiative at WNS, it is a part of the DNA and culture of the organization. We know that creating sustainable business outcomes for our clients can only happen by having educated communities across the globe.” said Keshav R. Murugesh, Group CEO, WNS Global Services and Chair, NASSCOM BPM Council.
