Chivukula Trust and Sri Sathya Sai Subbarama Shastry Memorial Trust of Indo-MIM Tec Pvt Ltd. have successfully completed 10 years of service to underprivileged members of society. To commemorate the completion of 10 years, the Trusts promise to reach 3000 school kids through the mid day meal scheme from next academic year.
Sri Sathya Sai Subbarama Shastry Memorial Trust and Chivukula Trust were established in 2003 to develop, maintain and fund educational and medical assistance programs to schools, hospitals and child welfare centers for benefit of marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society. As per objectives of the Trusts, mid-day meal is provided to school children under the program ‘Lalitha Dasoha’ to Government High School in Hebbal and 5 Government Schools in Rajanakunte. Since 2003, mid-day meals in association with the Government of Karnataka have been provided for the benefit of 2000 children monthly from both centers.
At both centers, the food is cooked by employees of the Trust keeping in mind children’s nutritional requirements. Dedicated, trained and committed staff serve food of consistent quality cooked in modern kitchens using clean and hygienic utensils and cooking methods. The pillar of support for this initiative Dr. Krishna Chivukula, Chairman, INDO–MIM Tec Pvt. Ltd. (India) said,”It has been my endeavor to see that we give our children good nutritious food so that they do not have to study on an empty stomach but focus on academics and sports. Considering that, India will be in the forefront of providing human capital to the world in years to come, it is imperative that our children are mentally and physically competitive in a global labour market.”
Besides supporting mid-day meals scheme for school children, the Trusts provide Medicare facility to all the 2000 children through an arrangement with Bangalore Baptist Hospital. Apart from the mid day meal scheme, Chivukula Trust gives monthly financial grant to Bangalore Baptist Hospital towards medical treatment for financially weak patients. The Trust has provided state-of-the-art international-standard cardiology equipment at the cost of Rs. 4 crore and a complete new wing to Bangalore Baptist Hospital. The Wing was inaugurated by the former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam two years ago. The Chivukula Trust also supports Asha Foundation financially and provides ART drugs to 50 mothers suffering from AIDS.
