KARNATAKA TO BE POWER SURPLUS BY 2017
The state of Karnataka will become a power surplus state by 2017 thus ending the electricity shortage in the technology capital of India, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today while inaugurating ELECRAMA-the world’s largest transmission and distribution confluence; and also invited the electrical equipment industry to set up manufacturing units in the state.

“The state government has initiated several power projects to the tune of 18,000 mega watts across Karnataka, both in the conventional and non-conventional sectors and they are at different states of implementation. Karnataka will, in all probability, be a power surplus state by 2017,” said Mr Siddaramaiah.

He said Karnataka was a pioneer in the Indian power sector as it has been generating electricity for 112 years and that the state had initiated several reforms in the transmission and distribution sector that would help reduce inefficiencies in the system and also provide enormous opportunity to electrical equipment manufacturers to supply high quality equipment at reasonable costs.

“ELECRAMA has grown to be the world's largest show for electrical equipments from 220 V to 1200 KV and industrial electronics. The exhibition not only provides a platform for showcasing the global best technology but also provides opportunity for building strong relationship between the buyers and sellers.
