‘Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup – 2014’ - an overwhelming success with over 190 golfers participating, concluded today with a colourful ‘Celebrity Playoff.’ The tournament was organized as a fund raiser and cancer awareness initiative by Cancer Crusaders of CURE Foundation at Hyderabad Golf Club on February 15th & 16th, 2014. Chief Guest, Cine Actor & Golfer Sri Akkineni Nagarjuna demonstrated & guided the ladies to do the Putting in the presence of Dr Vijay Anand Reddy and Gopichand. Master Aleem, a Child Cancer Survivor, supported by CURE Foundation welcomed the gathering with a wonderful dance performance.
The all women ‘Celebrity Playoff’ had women from all walks of life and was organized to celebrate womanhood, under flood lights on 18th holf on Sunday. The celebs at the playoff Ms. Amala Nagarjuna, Actress & Animal Welfare Activist; Ms. Smita Sabharwal, IAS, District Collector, Medak; Ms. Upasna Kamineni, Head, Charity Initiatives, Apollo Hospitals; Ms. Asmita Marwa, Fashion Designer; Cine Actresses Ms. Samantha & Ms. Madhu Shalini; Ms. Mithali Raj, Captain, Indian Women’s Cricket team; Ms. Dinaz Vervatwala, Fitness Trainer; Dr. P. Shashikala Reddy, W/o. Dr. P. Vijay Anand Reddy, were thoroughly delighted with the proceedings.
According to Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, Founder, CURE Foundation & Director, Apollo Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad; there has been a rampant increase in the incidence of breast cancers amongst urban women and cervical cancer amongst rural women. We decided to spread awareness about these diseases by concluding the Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup – 2014’ with an all women ‘Celebrity Play off.’
