Hundreds of students lit up the stage with energetic performances at Greenwood High International School in a stage adaption of the German tale, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” held on Saturday & Sunday. It was magical with music, singing, dance and superb character acting. The talent of all the student artists was displayed in full form. It was a marvellous production directed by renowned theatre artist Arundhati Raja, Co-founder and Artistic Director of Jagriti Theatre.
With painted faces and vibrant costumes, students had been rehearsing for the play for the past few weeks. A colourful backdrop of a German town complimented the entire performance, with more than 700 students dressed up as different characters such as rats and townsmen doing justice to the play. The play showcased the histrionic talents of its students, for their parents to appreciate and enjoy.
The play ‘Pied Piper of Hamelin’ gave the message that “Promises must be kept” was well acted and received by everyone.
Arundhati Raja, director of the play appreciated the Management and Principal for their support and co-operation. She was indeed happy and delighted by the hard work, effort and interest put in by the teachers and students while aiding her for the success of this special event.
Before the play, I was a timid child. I thank my teachers and my director for giving me this opportunity to perform in front of a big audience which helped me to express myself with confidence and clarity, said a student, Mehika Prasad.
The play “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” nurtured my love for acting and helped me grow tremendously. Ms. Arundhati loved us unconditionally, which enabled us to follow her instructions and stay obedient throughout said a student, Akhil Vajjhala.
My experience in working in the play has been fun and the moments will be etched in my memory forever. It has been a joy learning to speak and act in the supervision and guidance of my teachers and Ms. Arundhati, said a student, Nikhil Radhesh.
