The Media Centre has been set up at Hotel Eden Park, Infantry Road, near The Hindu office, by KSJF with an idea to provide facilities for holding media conferences, workshops, seminars. The centre located in sylvan surroundings of hotel is within easy access of media offices.
In his inaugural address Sri Roshan Baig, Minister for Information and Infrastructure, called up KSJF to indentify Jorurnalists who are honest, frank and committed for the profession. India is the third largest producer of generic medicines. But this fact in known to many people. Hence media should try to project and popular such developments. He also disclosed that Government of Karnataka is working towards provision of health insurance and pension for all working journalists.
Shri. Doraiswamy freedom fighter who believes in Gandhi on principles advised media to be honest transparent and truthful and expose the misleads and corruption. Newspapers and magazines in English enjoy more publicity and reliability. Language papers should also grow simultaneously. In the present scenario in our country there is absolute need for competent wise government and also strong opposition. According to him media centre can be prove to be useful in highlighting burning issues.
Shri Dinesh Amin Mattu, Media Advisor to Chief Minister of Karnataka dwelt upon the ride of Journalists Union and trade union. All Associations / Unions of Media and press club must work together in close coordination to attain common goal. Negativity in media should be replaced by professionalism.
Earlier Pattubala Bhaskar Reddy, general secretary, Karnataka State Journalists Federation, outlined about the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and spelt out the aim of establishing Media Centre. The function concluded by honoring all the guests.
