On a PIL filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms Delhi High Court on has asked the central government and the Election Commission to take appropriate actions against the Congress and the BJP for taking foreign funds. BJP and Congress have taken several crores of rupees from Britain-based Vedanta Resources and its subsidiary companies violating the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). The BJP and the Congress had claimed that Vedanta Resources was not a foreign company and therefore no law had been violated.
