Deputy Governor of RBI resigns
Reserve Bank of India's deputy governor, Kamalesh Chandra Chakrabarty has submitted his resignation just before the central bank is due to hand out new bank licences.
Chakrabarty was appointed as deputy governor at the RBI in June 2009 for three years and received a two-year extension in 2012. Dr. Chakrabarty was looking after Customer Service Department, Department of Administration and Personnel Management, Department of Information Technology, Department of Payment and Settlement Systems, Human Resources Development Department, Rajbhasha Department, Rural Planning & Credit Department, Urban Banks Department and he was also in charge of Alternate Appellate Authority under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
Chakrabarty is currently one of three deputy governors at the central bank, following the retirement of Deputy Governor Anand Sinha in January.
