With over 200 million Internet users India represents enormous opportunity for Pinterest

With over 200 million Internet users India represents enormous opportunity for Pinterest
1. Does the company plan to invest in building a vernacular platform (other Indian languages) in India?
We don't have plans to add more Indian languages in the near term, but making Pinterest available to people all over the world is our priority, so we may consider that in the future.

2. What is the total number of registered users \ active pinners the company has in India?
Unfortunately, we don't publicly disclose active pinner data by country, but overall, Pinterest has 57.4 million global users according to ComScore in November 2013. Active user growth in India year on year was up 256%.

3. What is the potential consumer base that the company is targeting with the Hindi version, vis-vis numbers and target groups?
We're excited about the opportunity to help pinners in India discover their interests in either Hindi or English. Today, top pinning categories in India include fashion, food and home, but as the community of pinners grows, we expect to see categories broaden into new areas.

4. Is the Indian audience a critical part of the company's over-all user base?
With an Internet population of over 200 million, India represents an enormous opportunity for Pinterest particularly on mobile.

5. Also, why Hindi and not English? Will it, in future, be a Pinterest.in in Hindi or will it just continue to offer Hindi as an option on the current site?
It's important to know that it's entirely up to pinners what language they choose for pinning content and making comments, either English or Hindi.
For now, we don't have immediate plans for pinterest.in. Instead, we use Pinterest.com everywhere and offer all of our languages as options.
