Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said, “NASSCOM Japan Council will help us to identify growth enablers and address various challenges for GICs in the country. With this initiative we also aim to undertake activities which will make India a favorable destination for more GICs in Japan willing to expand globally and recommend on policies which will enable a seamless ecosystem of operations to address immigration, taxation and partnering with the government.”
Mr. Takeyari San, Managing Director and President, Sony India Software said that “This initiative from NASSCOM to form a Japanese GIC Council is a remarkable achievement - this platform can be leveraged by all Japanese GIC’s who have establishments in India and for those whom may want to start afresh. I am glad NASSCOM has mooted this idea and is a step in the right direction though some would say it was long overdue. I am extremely excited to be part of this and I am looking forward to see this forum delivering value to India-Japan collaboration in the Technology, IT& ITES.”
India is one of the leading locations for GICs with 30 per cent share of new set-ups globally, playing an important role in growth of Indian IT-BPM industry and the GIC exports stood at USD 17 billion by end of FY2014. At present there are about 825 GICs spread across tier I/II/III cites and employs 530,000 people in the country. Going forward NASSCOM aims to undertake similar initiatives to work closely with specific country based GICs and create various platforms to aims to seamlessly ‘Collaborate, Connect and Co-create’.
