#SCVerdict: SC rules sharia courts illegal

The Supreme Court has declared that the Sharia Courts and religious decrees or fatwas are illegal. The court further objected to the Sharia Courts ordering punishments against innocent people and said that no religion permits the same. But Supreme Court's verdict on drew sharp reaction from Muslim clerics who said that the Constitution allows them the right to work and act according to Muslim personal law. The court was hearing a petition challenging the functioning of parallel courts in India.
